Meet Our LAP-BAND® Surgeons

Dr Felts Lap Band Surgery DallasDr. Frank Felts completed the undergraduate and medical program at Texas A&M University in 1983.  Following graduation he began a five-year general surgery program at Scott & White Hospital in Temple, Texas.

He began in private practice as a general surgeon in 1988 in Jacksonville, Texas.  Dr. Felts has performed a wide variety of general surgical procedures during his years in practice, but found a high level of personal satisfaction performing laparoscopy and advanced laparoscopic procedures.  During his many years in practice, he noticed the association of obesity and other medical conditions.  He also recognized the struggle that most overweight people endure to lose weight and to maintain their weight loss.  Dr. Felts was interested in finding a safe and effective solution to the ever-growing problem and began investigating all the procedures available.

As the LAP-BAND® System procedure became more and more accepted here in the United States, and the safety and effectiveness were continually proven, his interest in the procedure grew.  With thousands of laparoscopic procedures, including over 1500 Laparoscopic Banding procedures since October 2006,  Dr. Felts is a highly skilled laparoscopic surgeon, and has now transitioned his practice solely to the LAP-BAND® System procedure. He is one of the most experienced surgeons exclusively performing this surgery.  Patients recognize and appreciate Dr. Felts for his passion in treating obesity and enjoy the individual care he gives them.

Dr. Felts holds several professional memberships and certifications. He recently had the honor of becoming an appointed member of the Clinical Advisory Board of Allergan Medical for the LAP-BAND®.  He is certified by the American Board of Surgery; a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons; a member of the American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery.
